Ulrich Dietz is “Entrepreneur Of The Year 2011”
Stuttgart, 24 September 2011 – Ulrich Dietz last night received the award “Entrepreneur Of The Year 2011” as an outstanding leader of a mid-size company. The founder and CEO of international IT company GFT Technologies AG impressed the jury with innovative strength, personal commitment and sustainable corporate development.
The coveted award is one of Germany’s most important honours for entrepreneurs and will be presented this year for the 15th time by the auditing and consulting company Ernst & Young. A total of 300 companies were nominated for the award, but only 65 reached the final after a strict preselection process. The highly distinguished jury chose Ulrich Dietz as the winner in the category “Information and Communication Technology/Media”. The jury included former Minister President Prof. Dr. Lothar Späth, Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft President Prof. Dr. Hans-Jörg Bullinger, President of the Centre for European Economic Research Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Franz, founder of IDS Scheer AG Prof. Dr. August-Wilhelm Scheer and Managing Director of Bauwens GmbH & Co. KG Dr. Patrick Adenauer.
“I am delighted to receive this honour and above all regard the award as recognition for the successful work of the entire GFT team. With courage, hard work and enthusiasm for new technologies, we have succeeded in developing GFT into an internationally acclaimed enterprise. Today, GFT is one of the leading IT companies in the finance sector and a strategic partner for leading financial institutes around the world. A fantastic achievement – and motivation for the future. We still have plenty of ambition,” says Ulrich Dietz on receiving the award.
Over the coming years, GFT aims to steadily pursue its international growth course and reach its revenue target of €500 million as early as 2015. In addition, the company plans to expand its international presence and also strengthen its development centres in Germany.
“In a fast-changing sector such as Information Technology, you can only be successful if you constantly produce innovations. Continual learning and developing is not only necessary for companies but for society as a whole,” says Ulrich Dietz, who is personally involved in numerous activities committed to promoting innovation and youth development in Germany. His latest project is the global innovation competition CODE_n. Its aim is to find and promote 50 of the world’s most creative young entrepreneurs with innovative business models in the field of IT.
“Modern information technologies offer a host of opportunities for young business owners with new ideas. In order to transform good ideas into marketable solutions, however, they need perseverance and – today more than ever – a strong network and the right support. I’m therefore delighted to be able to accompany such young entrepreneurs on part of their journey,” says Ulrich Dietz.
