GFT ensures that everything runs smoothly
in post office branches across Germany
Contract signed with Deutsche Post for the maintenance and development of branch office IT
St. Georgen, 9 April 2008 - GFT Technologies AG (GFT), a leading international IT service provider, will in future ensure that, in technical terms, everything runs smoothly at almost 9,000 Post and Postbank branches. The IT experts from GFT are taking over the maintenance and development of the interactive operating environment of the ZORA branch system ("Zukunftsorientierte Retail-Anwendung" [Future-Oriented Retail Application]).

Deutsche Post processes its services with the aid of ZORA in a large proportion of its branches. All the business processes, from selling stamps and sending parcels by DHL, transactions at the Postbank, through to services provided for third parties, can be handled at one counter position with the aid of this IT application.

The staff on the GFT team are on standby as troubleshooters around the clock. As Deutsche Post's partners for application management, they will be responsible for providing front-end support for ZORA, 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week, for the next three years. In addition, GFT will also be responsible for the further development of the system's functions.

Marika Lulay, a member of the Executive Board of GFT Technologies AG, is delighted to be "intensifying our strategic partnership with Deutsche Post through this order”. During the tendering process, GFT managed to impress the client with its technical expertise and extensive specialist knowledge.

Deutsche Post has been providing its comprehensive branch service with the aid of electronic systems support since 1992. "Over the last year, we have converted our branch system to the state-of-the-art technical platform," says Christian Herrlich, Senior Vice President at the headquarters of Deutsche Post. Herrlich was responsible for the changeover, which took three years in all: "We managed to complete this 'tour de force' successfully."

During the migration period it was not possible to implement any new functions. "Now we are going to make up for that," says Lulay. "We will continue to develop ZORA together with Deutsche Post to meet the requirements of the users, and thus establish an important precondition through software-based working processes for the further expansion of the range of services offered by Deutsche Post."
