All financial institutions acknowledge the need to harness the vast opportunities provided by cloud computing. But migrating established platforms and applications to the cloud is more than a change in technology. GFT's deep financial service insights and technology capabilities provided tremendous business benefits to the collateral management platform of this leading collateral systems provider.

The challenge

  • Migrate a 10-year-old collateral management platform to the cloud, hosted on AWS
  • Simplify and overhaul the customer experience without significant changes to underlying systems
  • Introduce an agile delivery model to client organisation
  • Reduce delivery lead times for software releases of customer experience
  • Deliver within a 6-month timeframe

The engagement

  • Mobilised a mixed-shore, multi-disciplinary team comprising:
    • Onshore/on-site (London): customer experience designers, visual designers, front-end developers, architect, BAs, PM
    • Nearshore (Lodz/Warsaw): software engineers, QA
  • Applied DevOps practices to the end-to-end development and deployment of all GFT deliverables
  • Decoupled customer experience development from core platform engineering
  • Rolled out upgraded customer experience and visual design for key user journeys
  • Introduced a new technology stack including Angular II, Redux, Material UI, JUnit, JMeter, Jenkins, Ansible, Docker, Protractor and Sonar

The benefit

  • Improved delivery capability in client organisation, including architecture, requirements management, delivery agility and automation tooling
  • Significantly reduced the time for end-user execution of key system configuration and business process execution activities
  • Enabled provision of system as a cloud-based service
  • Reduced release cycle time of new end-user functionality from months to days
