GFT acquires Spanish IT company Mecanización de Empresas

  • Mecanización de Empresas, headquartered in Alicante, has a workforce of 75 who will be integrated into the GFT team in Spain
  • The IT company provides services for the development and maintenance of software for real estate companies
  • The acquisition will expand GFT’s office in Alicante, which was opened last year, and strengthen its Spanish workforce of over 2,000 professionals

Barcelona, 16 October 2017 – GFT Technologies SE is continuing its growth in Spain. GFT today announced the acquisition of Spanish IT company Mecanización de Empresas S.A. via its subsidiary GFT Iberia Holding S.A.U. Founded in 1973, Mecanización de Empresas has 75 employees in Alicante and generated revenues of 4.2 million euros in 2016. The company traded under the brand name Mecemsa until the acquisition date and provides services for the development and maintenance of software for real estate companies. Marika Lulay, CEO of GFT Technologies SE, has pointed out the importance of the acquisition: “The acquisition of Mecanización de Empresas will expand GFT’s activities and its expertise. This reinforcement will enable us to drive the development of IT solutions for the real estate business. It’s an excellent fit and supports our growth strategy in Spain.” Both parties have agreed not to disclose the acquisition price.

 

GFT currently has a workforce of over 2,000 professionals in Spain working on digital solutions for leading financial services institutions around the globe. Carlos Eres, General Director of GFT Spain, states: “Last year we opened a GFT office in Alicante to expand our business in Spain. The acquisition of Mecanización de Empresas is the next step in consolidating the growth of this new location.” The GFT team in Alicante will now comprise 105 professionals. Besides this location, GFT Spain has facilities in Sant Cugat (Barcelona), Lleida, Madrid, Valencia and Zaragoza, with over 2,000 professionals working on digital transformation projects – both domestic and international – for the banking and insurance sector.
