Schinko manufactures housing for machines and devices and wants to collect and evaluate the production data generated centrally. For this purpose, all equipment used in the plant, such as punching laser and bending machines, will supply information to an IoT platform. "Fast and accurate production controlling is an essential part of our company's success. In order to significantly reduce feedback and thus intervention times in our production, we have been looking for an experienced implementation partner for real-time machine data acquisition since mid-2018. We finally found it a few months ago with GFT," reports Gerhard Lengauer, managing partner of Schinko.
GFT is implementing the PoC on the basis of the IoT platform "sphinx open online", which is being developed by the GFT subsidiary in-integrierte informationssysteme GmbH. It meets the requirements of Schinko GmbH, which was looking for a flexible and scalable system for machine connection and monitoring that can map various applications in an industrial environment.
The platform analyses and visualises the production data on a central website and displays, among other things, material consumption, machine wear or utilization. The key figures obtained in this way are used for a continuous improvement process, whereby the type and depth of information can be individually defined for each machine - from the number of punching-head strokes to set-up, to program run times.
The PoC is implemented in steps that systematically build on each other. While GFT's experts connect the various data sources and create suitable dashboards and interfaces, they also build up the necessary process-related expertise at the client's premises. As soon as the architecture and integration concept is in place, a functional prototype is created that works with real data and provides role-specific information to selected users.
"We consider the fact that Schinko GmbH is taking this important step towards digitalisation and the smart factory together with us to be a great success of our industrial offensive," explains Dr. Michael Hecker, Managing Director Industry at GFT. "Our global expertise and GFT's Industry 4.0 portfolio enable our client to align their machinery in a sustainable and profitable way.
