Strength in the team

My career in GFT started in 2013. I remember the early days, being one of the very few developers in Poznan. We all had one goal – to make sure that our small office succeeds and grows. Driven by the challange, we became much more than just collegaues. We learned to rely on each other and use individual team members in their best capacity. This showed us the true value of effective team, where each member has an impact on the delivery.

To be honest, during these early days, I never imagined a life beyond software engineering. That was my passion and at GFT, I found true technical experts – people that could speak my language. But at the same time, I had the chance to observe a true leader at work – a person who was able to get everyone together, set common goals, solve conflicts and be a technical guru. I started to appreciate such a role and how much better the team and the engagement were as whole.

I was quickly offered a similar position and, oh boy, was it challenging! I thought it would be a no-brainer, but it was so much more difficult. I keep saying, debugging code is easy, debugging people is just beyond hard. Was I alone on my journey? No! GFT was always near me, with my managers jumping in whenver I needed help and sharing dos and donts. The company quickly prepared the Accelerated Leadership Orogramme and I was given all the support I needed. I quickly realized that my passion had changed. Don’t get me wrong, I still love coding. However, helping people outgrow themselves, that’s not only the greatest privilage, and asign of a true trust, but also the biggest joy one could get.
