The twin charm of the GFT AppStore
New functions, more information, good interaction – this is what users expect from mobile applications today. But how does a company get an application that is useful for its end users? GFT has its own AppStore, which provides realistic scenarios of how companies can serve their target groups with mobile solutions. At the moment, showcases exist for bank communities, although they can generally be transferred to other sectors, too. To do this, GFT’s “Applied Technologies Team” integrates ideas from certain projects, connects them to scenarios, and distributes them as apps to its consultants’ smartphones, tablet PCs or iPads. The apps are prototypes of mobile applications that run on suitable terminal devices. With its comment and chat functions, news corner and other features, the interface resembles Facebook. The bank consultant can witness the user experience directly.

Mobile showcases work without a lot of words

Miguel Reiser, Director Business Development, sums up as follows: “A showcase on a mobile terminal device that immediately replicates the features and user comfort of an app is inspiring, and it quickly leads to a discussion about how a concrete solution might look like. That is a very creative process.” Although everybody regards smartphones and tablet PCs as standard by now, the concrete concept of which applications can run on them is still an abstract idea for many people. This is why GFT’s “Applied Technologies Team” develops scenarios and weighs up which features make sense for the user and as well for the bank. In the banking sector especially, many aspects have to be considered concerning stability and security, which can then be taken into account on the “living object” of the
GFT apps.

Since the formation of the GFT Applied Technologies Team earlier this year, a whole range of demo bank apps have been developed – for payment transactions, investment consulting, account management and stock market information with brokerage features.

The internal AppStore provides staff with mobile applications

Additionally, GFT’s AppStore can be used by customers as a platform to distribute their own internal apps. “A company’s AppStore is the ideal platform to distribute apps internally to staff,” says Miguel Reiser. “People who feel at home in the mobile world will come across more and more business ideas that can benefit a firm.”
